Eildon has four turbo generators, with a total generating capacity of of electricity. It is owned and operated by AGL Energy. Eildon Power Station operates mostly in summer to meet peaks in electricity demand at times when there is also a demand for irrigation using the discharged water. It produces an average of around of electricity per annum. The first turbine was commissioned in 1956, and a second in 1957.
